Who is David Yurman? David started his career as a sculptor in the 1960s. David Yurman was primarily inspiried by his wife, Sybil, to explore new horizons and persue new opportunities that that would showcase his talent. Starting with his creation of basic yet contemporary beautiful copper belt buckles, David Yurman began his journey into the jewelry design world by making his mark – one jewelry piece at a time.
To learn more about jewelry design, David Yurman became an apprentice with the world famous jeweler Cartier. Prior to this apprenticeship, as with other respected desingers of our time, David Yurman had to expereince rejection. He was turned down by Tiffany & Co., another jewelry design company. The entrepreneurial determination and unyielding pursuit towards success drove David Yurman and he did not take this rejection lightly. In fact, he points to this as just what he needed to ignite the flame to fuel up his need to succeed. By 1979, the sculptor-turned-jeweler launched David Yurman, Inc. to carry his exclusive David Yurman Jewelry Collection and as with any bold and great artists, David Yurman decided to go against the grain.
